General Worker

Job Summary:

The General Worker supports a wide range of material handling and facility maintenance tasks at Smithfield Foods Direct Store Delivery (DSD) branch locations. This role includes loading and unloading product, order picking, cleaning, light maintenance, and assisting with vehicle-related tasks to ensure efficient branch operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload materials, parts, and products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.

• Read load sheets and shipping orders to identify items for distribution.

• Transport materials between receiving, storage, and designated areas.

• Sort and organize materials by size, type, or product code.

• Store perishable goods in appropriate refrigerated areas.

• Assemble customer orders and stage them for delivery.

• Record quantities of materials or items received or distributed.

• Load inventory on trucks in the correct sequence for route deliveries.

• Drive vehicles to local vendors for maintenance or repairs as needed.

• Maintain vehicle observation records.

• Check and document truck and cooler temperatures.

• Sanitize delivery trucks as part of daily routine.

• Perform basic facility maintenance tasks, such as light bulb replacement and tire checks.

• Maintain cleanliness in and around garage and office areas.

• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions and correspondence.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift (powered industrial truck).

• Valid Driver's License required.

• Must obtain a valid CDL-B Driver's License within 90 days of start date.

• Must be at least 21 years of age in accordance with federal regulations.
