Job Summary:
The Relief Route Sales Representative is responsible for selling and merchandising a variety of Smithfield Foods products to local stores. This role involves driving a company box truck, delivering products, stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The position requires flexibility, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and comfort using technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Sell and merchandise company products at assigned local retail locations.
Drive a Smithfield Foods box truck on an established route.
Deliver products to stores, stock shelves, rotate inventory, and ensure product freshness.
Remove and process defective and outdated products, returns, and credits.
Quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare invoices for sales orders.
Maintain and report daily Department of Transportation (DOT) logs and end-of-day business transaction reports.
Complete daily truck inventory and conduct weekly physical inventory, reporting discrepancies to management.
Use material handling equipment (e.g., carts, pallets) to move products safely and efficiently.
Communicate regularly with local management about customer needs and unresolved issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
At least 6 months of experience in route sales, grocery, warehousing, or delivery required (preferred as well).
Valid Driver's License required; CDL-B License must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Must be at least 21 years of age (as required by Federal Regulations).
Ability to interpret instructions in written, verbal, and schedule format.
Ability to write routine reports and maintain documentation.
Strong interpersonal skills; must be respectful, approachable, and a team player.
Additional Information:
This role requires working Monday through Friday, with a typical workweek of 50 to 55 hours. Occasional Saturday or holiday work may be required.
